Diet soda more cancerous than cigarettes?

Many of us understand the harms of alcohol and cigarettes, but what about the harms of diet soda? Everyday millions of Americans are drinking glass after glass of diet drinks with the notion that it is simply healthier than regular soda due to its low calorie content.    Unfortunately this couldn’t be further from the truth.  Studies from natural news have shown that the leading chemical in diet soda may actually be breeding more cancer cells than the 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes combined.  What chemical is this you may ask, well I’d like you to meet aspartame.


Aspartame is one of the most common artificial sweeteners in use today and is sold under the brand names NutraSweet and Equal.  Aspartame is made up of three chemicals: aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol.  Cancer thrives in an acidic body where the cells are deprived of oxygen and nutrients – and this stuff deprives the heck out of them.  Please keep in mind all artificial sweeteners do this, including the ever so popular Splenda (so keep away from that stuff to!)

According to an article in FitDay, aspartame not only results in cancer, but can cause mood disorders, birth defects, and brain damage.  High levels of aspartame cause changes in the serotonin levels which can lead to behavioral problems, depression and other emotional disorders.  Before a child is born, its nervous system is vulnerable to any dangerous excitotoxins that the mother may consume. Too much exposure to phenylalanine or aspartic acid may cause irreversible brain damage and other serious birth defects.  In terms of brain damage, formaldehyde, a product of methanol (something in aspartame), gathers in certain areas of the brain causing degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and ALS.  Yes folks – FORMALDEHYDE, something we use to embalm dead people, is inside this stuff!


Believe it or not, drinking 3 diet sodas per day is more dangerous than smoking a pack of cigarettes, about 20, a day. Although diet sodas contain less chemicals than cigarettes, these specific “diet” chemicals are choking cells and mutating DNA at a higher rate, leading to chronic disorders of the digestive track, breakdown of the CNS and ultimately leads to the development of cancerous tumors.

Numerous holistic doctors and articles have labeled aspartame as the most dangerous substance added to food today, yet it is legal? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?  The FDA has managed to justify this stuff as “legal”, dispite the numerous studies and dangerous findings simply because money talks.  In this corrupt world we live, they would rather simply serve us poison if we pay for it vs. protect our health.  If you think for a second the FDA has your best interest in mind before that of profit, you are naive.  Please take this into consideration folks, as the only person that has your best interest at heart is you, and the more you know the better.  Don’t let the commercials of models glugging down Diet Coke fool you, this drink will not only result in weight gain, but will more likely result in you being a corpse than a model.  Marketers have one thing in mind, and trust me its NOT your health.  With that said please think the next time you go to drink a diet soda, or add some Splenda to your coffee.  Can’t live without diet soda, well then you won’t be living much longer.  Can’t live without a sweetener?   1. Stevia is a great substitute for those looking to eliminate sugars and look for something more low cal but you still need to be observant in deceptive packaging. Buy stevia in either liquid or powdered form from Whole Foods or a drug store. Packages of stevia (ie Stevia in the Raw) are likely cut with cheaper and less healthy alternatives.. Like aspartame. The less ingrediants on the label, the better… Especially if those ingrediants are pronounceable.

    When baking I often substitute agave nectar or honey (from a local farmers market or my mother’s own hives) for sugar. It’s sweeter, you use less, and it tastes better in my personal opinion!
